Supporters & Camaraderie

For two and a half decades the experience of Care & Share attracted the attention of citizens, community organizations, and civic leaders.

Building Community and Identity

The Story . . .

The persuasiveness and constancy of the founders, leaders, and volunteers was not to be denied; begrudgingly perhaps at first, but eventually in resounding affirmation of purpose and  purpose.

The Care & Share spirit was contagious.

Business owners and community leaders came forward to pitch in when more space was needed, when shortfall funds needed infusion, when material support was crucial to the very survival of the vision and mission of Care & Share.

And the citizens of East Lyme came forward.

Care & Share gained acceptance and support from other town organizations, such as the VFW and Rotary at this summertime food drive.

. . . the Story . . .

Through all seasons of each passing year, Care & Share grew and engaged with the community to stimulate donations for those in need.

And, in return neighbors, young and old, accepted the invitation and gave  their time and treasure to assist in the mission.

. . . the Story . . .

Early on, in 1988, businesses and banks pitched in at the holidays to encourage their patrons to leave gifts for C&S clients.

. . . the Story . . .

Wonderfully, over those same formative years, a second phenomenon occurred.  Care & Share volunteers became a community within itself as well. Serving others had fostgered a common bond of reliance among the volunteers and provided a place  to experiencethe good in others and within temselves.

A common purpose . . .

. . .  a bond discovered.
