ANother temporary Home for the Pantry

11 Hope Street

One of the several donated spaces that were itinerant homes for the Care & Share Pantry after it outgrew The Sail Loft was a refitted garage located at 11 Hope Street in downtown Niantic. These pictures are from the 2004-2005 time period.

It took many long hours of hard labor by many volunteers to clean the space, to make it

suitable for Pantry purposes. Then the volunteers undertook a dual task. First, to assemble all the food supplies on hand to open the Pantry. Next, they conscientiously organized the items, systematically arranging them on shelving and bins at the new site.

The space was quickly bursting from increased demand and soon a new freezer became available to address the need for increased storage capacity required by clients' needs.

And true to its name on Hope Street, the space served as The Holiday Store in December.
